Baku/08.05.21/Turan: The Baku Court of Appeal today rejected the complaint of the former Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Serbia and ex-Prosecutor General Eldar Hasanov who ptotesred extend of his arrest.
His lawyer Javad Javadov said that Hasanov himself, due to health problems, did not attend at the hearing.
“The European Court of Human Rights, in accordance with Rule 39 of its Rules of Procedure, decided to urgently transfer Eldar Hasanov to the military hospital of the State Security Service, conduct a medical examination and surgery. The European Court asked to be informed about the implementation of these measures. But his condition remains grave and no measures are taken, ”Javadov wrote.
On May 3, the Binagadi court extended the term of Hasanov's arrest for another three months.
* Recall that Eldar Hasanov, who served as the ambassador of Azerbaijan to Serbia and Bosnia Herzegovina, was arrested on August 13, 2020 by the State Security Service, and on April 14, the Sabail Court of Baku arrested him on charges of abuse of office (308.2), illegal spending of budget funds ( 308-1.1 of the country's Criminal Code).
In the 90s, the ambitious Eldar Hasanov served as the country's prosecutor general and was fired for no apparent reason. Later, government circles began to spread the opinion that Hasanov claimed power and was considered by certain circles as a possible successor to Heydar Aliyev.
Later, after the transfer of Hasanov to diplomatic work, rumors about his political ambitions were circulated. -06D-
