The IDB is interested in the Azerbaijan-2030 program
Baku/26.02.23/Turan: President Ilham Aliyev received President of the Islamic Development Bank Muhammad Sulaiman al-Jasser on February 26, the website of the head of state reports.
During the meeting, Aliyev stressed the need to determine the future format of cooperation both from the point of view of development processes at the regional level and from the point of view of “Azerbaijan 2030: national priorities of socio-economic development”, which have already begun to be implemented.
As the President noted, in this regard, reconstruction projects in Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur are one of the priorities.
He further said that the East-West transport corridor, digital transformation and renewable energy sources also play an important role in the economic development of Azerbaijan, and noted that a significant number of partners and investors have been and will be involved in the ongoing projects.
The President of the IDB expressed the bank's interest in promising projects within the framework of ”Azerbaijan 2030: National priorities of socio-economic development", noted that cooperation in the field of trade and investment is possible in the future.
He noted that the successful experience gained by Azerbaijan in various fields, including in the field of “electronic government”, can be applied by the bank in other countries.
The consultative visit of the head of the IDB will last until March 3. He will hold meetings in the Cabinet of Ministers, meet with the heads of large companies of Azerbaijan to deepen partnership relations.
"The strategic visit is aimed at maximizing cooperation between the IDB Group and Azerbaijan, expanding potential areas of cooperation and stimulating actions that will contribute to the socio-economic development of the country," the bank said in a statement.
The IDB has been cooperating with Azerbaijan since 1992 and has so far allocated about $1.2 billion to finance projects.
The program "Azerbaijan 2030: National Priorities of socio-economic development" was approved on February 2, 2021
It covers 5 main areas:
ensuring sustainable growth and competitiveness of the economy;
creating a dynamic, inclusive society based on social justice;
competitive human capital and modern innovations;
a great return to the liberated territories;
