Antimonopoly Service Calls for Purchase of Certified Masks
Baku / 25.12.20 / Turan: The State Service for Antimonopoly Policy and Consumer Protection urged the population to use certified masks.
The Service said that the correct choice of protective masks is important in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
Azerbaijan has adopted two state standards (AZS 884: 2020 (EN 14683: 2014) and AZS 885: 2020 (149: 2001 + A1: 2009), which determine the requirements for medical masks, and all masks sold in the country, both locally produced and the imported ones, must match them.
According to the requirements of the standards, the main characteristics of medical masks are the effectiveness of bacterial filtration, breathability and microbiological purity of the mask.
The Service recommends that consumers, when buying protective masks, require the seller to provide information on the origin and certificates confirming the safety of the masks. If uncertified protective masks of unknown origin are found on sale, consumers can contact the State Service.
Businesses selling masks that do not meet the standard are liable. For these violations, fines are imposed from 1,500 to 2,000 manats for officials and from 4,000 to 6,000 manats for legal entities. –06D-
