Most drug offenders are unemployed
Baku/ 20.08.19 / Turan: In the first half of 2019, 13534 crimes were registered in Azerbaijan, the State Statistics Committee reports with reference to the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
2472 or 18.3% of these crimes were related to trafficking in narcotic and psychotropic substances.
In 59.6% of cases, drugs were used for no marketing purpose.
33.2% of crimes were related to the sale, production, transportation of drugs.
For illegal drug trafficking 1674 people were brought to justice, including 99% - criminal.
68.2% of drug offenders did not work anywhere. 24.6% are previously convicted.
77% of those held accountable are people aged 30 or more, 15% - 25-29 years old, 8% - 18-24 years old. -06D-

On Tuesday, the General Prosecutor's Office announced the initiation of new criminal cases against agricultural product exporters who allegedly concealed their earnings abroad. Specifically, the Sumgayit City Prosecutor's Office has opened a criminal case under Articles 208.2.1 and 208.2.2 (failure to return foreign currency to the country in large amounts by prior agreement of a group of individuals) and Article 308.2 (abuse of office causing serious consequences) against officials of the company "SOİL BOONS" LLC – Jahangir Aliyev, Elyar Gadzhiev, Mehman Mirzamedev, Saleh Gabilov, and Aly Aliyev.
