Prosecutor General: Percentage of Crime Detection Improved
Baku / 01.08.17 / Turan: On July 31, 2017, the Prosecutor General's Office held an operational meeting on the results of the first half of the year.
Prosecutor General Zakir Garalov, speaking at the meeting, spoke about the successfully ongoing dynamic development in all spheres of life, about major infrastructure projects, as well as programs of social orientation. According to him, in the first half of the year, 5 billion dollars was invested in the country's economy. Productivity in the non-oil sector increased by 4.4 percent, in agriculture - 2.2 percent, and in exports - 36 percent.
The Prosecutor General noted that during this period the crime detection rate improved by 1.3%, amounting to 85.4% in general. Of the recorded 78 premeditated murders 76 were disclosed. Zakir Garalov also spoke about the MNS case. He noted the arrest of property worth AZN 56 million in this case. According to him, complex investigative and operational measures were carried out for 250 episodes of the case. Completed and sent to court were 7 criminal cases against 19 former employees of the Ministry of National Security, including Akif Chovdarov and Subair Gurbanov.
The Prosecutor General noted that the court seized the property of the accused, with a total cost of 56 million manat. This was done in order to pay for the damage, calculated at 41.512 million manat.
At present, investigative and operational measures are carried out to search for the wanted announced by the investigation, as well as for other episodes. -0--
