There is no information about Saleh Rustamov and his nephew for 10 days
Baku / 21.05.18 / Turan: "We do not know if my brother and my nephew are alive or not. They have been in the Office for Combating Organized Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for 10 days," the brother of the detainee, Tale Rustamov, told Turan about this. According to him, the Interior Ministry does not allow lawyers to be arrested and does not give any information to relatives. "We are convinced that they are brutally tortured and the police want to hide this fact," Tale Rustamov said.
Numerous appeals to the country's leadership and the ombudsman did not give any results.
On May 18, a court of appeal was appointed, but it did not take place. At the same time, the arrested people signed letters that they refuse lawyers, Tale Rustamov said. "I am convinced that my brother and nephew under torture were forced to sign it," Tale Rustamov is sure.
Let's remind that Saleh Rustamov was the head of Gedabey's Executive Power in 1992-1993 during the presidency of Abulfaz Elchibey.
For the last 20 years he lived in Russia, and came to Azerbaijan once a year. On May 8, on his return from a regular trip, he was detained in the Shamkir region. On May 9, the Narimanov District Court of Baku elected a preventive measure against him in the form of arrest for a period of 4 months. He is charged under Article 234.4.3 (illegal drug trafficking on a large scale) of the Criminal Code. On May 10, his nephew, Vidadi, was arrested on that charge.
On May 12, also on the charge of illegal drug trafficking on his return from Turkey, Azer Badamov, Vidadi"s cousin was arrested.
On May 13, another friend of Vidadi, a Russian citizen Bakhruz Tagiyev, was arrested in the region of Gedabey, and imprisoned in Baku. -03B06--
