Strategic partnership between Baku and London will be strengthened - Ambassador James Sharp
Baku/12.03.22/Turan: Britain was one of the first to recognize the independence of Azerbaijan and has always supported its sovereignty and independence, stated British Ambassador to Baku James Sharp, speaking on Friday at a solemn ceremony dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
He noted the great role of British Petroleum in strengthening bilateral ties. Energy cooperation allowed Azerbaijan to achieve economic development and prosperity, strengthen sovereignty and independence, and determine its own future, the diplomat said.
At the same time, he noted that oil and gas is far from the only area of development of the "strategic partnership" between Great Britain and Azerbaijan. Today, many large and famous buildings and facilities in Baku, infrastructure projects have been implemented by British companies. There are significant achievements in the field of education and culture.
Today, thousands of Azerbaijanis have already received education and continue to study in the United Kingdom, work there or have relatives. English has become a second language for many in Azerbaijan.
British companies are also cooperating with Azerbaijan in the field of "green energy", demining the liberated territories and restoring settlements.
The message of the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom to the President of Azerbaijan on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations expressed confidence that the strategic partnership between the two countries in all areas will further strengthen, the diplomat said. -02B-
