Tariff Council introduces new prices for bus routes
The meeting of the Tariff (Price) Council of Azerbaijan held on April 26 considered tariffs for passenger transportation services on bus routes and adopted a new decision. The new decisions does not provide for increasing the fare, it is aimed at the grouping of bus routes, depending on their length. The new tariffs come into effect on May 1 this year.
Lately the number of bus routes in Baku has been reduced from 316 to 216, and the route of some buses was lengthened the distance. According to the new decision, from the first to the 99th bus routes, that travel within the city will cost 20 gepiks. In 35 commuter routes, where half of the route is not more than 15 km, the fare will be 20 gepiks well. In 45 of these routes, half of the turnover of not more than 25 km, the fare will be 25 gepiks. In the 20 routes, the distance from the initial to final stop is 30 km, and in these routes the fare will be 30 gepiks. In Baku there are 18 bus routes running long distances (from 30 and more than 50 km), the fare in which will be from 35 to 80 gepiks. Fares, depending on the distance of the route, are valid in other cities and regions of the country.
The Tariff Council noted that passengers on commuter buses moving at close distance, will the rate established for the inner city routes.
The fare on the route Baku-Sumgait remains the same - 35 gepiks. For long-distance bus routes the limit tariff is set at 1.6 km/gepiks.
The Tariff Council ordered the Ministry of Transport to provide all buses and bus stops with the scheme on the length of the route. -08D-
