Reactions of some opposition members to the call of Rustam Ibragimbayov
Co-chairman of the Forum of Intellectuals of Azerbaijan (FIA) Rustam Ibrahimbayov, called on the political leaders to accelerate the establishment of the National Council of Democratic Forces (NCDF.)
Commenting on this call to the Turan agency, the chairman of the Open Society Party, Sulhaddin Akbar, said that the leader of this organization, Rasul Guliyev, actively supports the creation of the National Council and the idea of a broad coalition of opposition.
Akbar said that there were some mistakes during the discussion of this idea.
"The idea of the National Council can only be successful only in case of consolidation all democratic forces. However, the negotiations on the establishment of the National Council are conducted privately, in the triple format (EL, PPFA and "Musavat".) The National Council may be established after discussions in a broad format," said Akbar.
He said that the National Councils created in 1918 and 1991 were legally legitimate bodies formed by the MPs elected by people. So far, there is not legitimacy now.
Therefore, it is necessary to ensure the participation of former deputies (who were elected in the years of independence from the democratic camp), the leaders of the parties of democratic camp, and community leaders, said Akbar.
The leader of the Popular Front Party, Ali Kerimli, said that the discussions around the creation of the National Council will complete in May. "We understand that most of the population has lost hope for elections, and they do not consider it important to participate in them. If we come together and hold a good campaign, we will be able to ensure the active participation of voters in elections," said Kerimli.
He said that the National Council is created not only for the nomination of a single candidate. "The National Council is the center of consolidation the democratic forces. After determining the primary principles, we think it is necessary to discuss the issue on single candidate. If we can not come to a consensus, then a potential candidate for a transitional period can become a well-known and respected person in the community. "
However, the leader of the Democratic Party, Sardar Jalaloglu, negatively assesses the idea of the National Council in such a form. He pointed out that only two or three parties discuss its creation, and the rest of the democratic spectrum remains is aware of nothing.
At the same time, he believes that the National Council may be a threat to statehood. he could not explain exactly what is the threat, but compared with the National Council with Nariman Narimanov.
Deputy chairman of the "Musavat"party, Gulaga Aslanly, stated that the party represented by him, supports the idea of creation the National Council. -03B05-
