Ali Hasanov: religion should not interfere in the secular foundations of the state

The authorities finally commented on the scandal around the "exposure" of the Nur network that does not stop for a few weeks .

According to the state agency AzerTAG, on Wednesday there was held a meeting with representatives of the political parties represented in parliament, where the chief ideologue of the authorities , Ali Hasanov addressed the issue.

Constructive discussions were held enough, the agency quotes Hasanov without telling where this meeting took place and who was there .

Next is a quote from Hasanov, from which it follows that the meeting discussed the following: what should be the ruling party's communication with other parties, how a dialogue between the political parties should be built, how should parties discuss national issues and in what form, how to evaluate proposals from parties, how to exploit the potential for orientation of political parties in the Azerbaijani society. Hasanov said.

Next he touched upon the activities of religious sects in the country , saying : "In Azerbaijan, there are representatives of not only Nursism or Wahhabism , but also other trends , and they're trying to step up their activities .

Such phenomena exist not only in Azerbaijan , but in the whole South Caucasus region, the former Soviet Union and in the world as a whole. Today in the world there are those who try to influence the thinking and activities of people in nontraditional ways, outside the laws adopted by the states . There are forces that are trying to sow discord by religious intervention and missionary , to divide people into sects . They exist in Azerbaijan. In connection with such facts, the relevant state structures of our countries do the necessary work."

Noting that today these forces do not pose a serious threat to the state of Azerbaijan, Ali Hasanov added: " If they were a serious threat , it would be faced with the laws of the state and the guardians of the law . But in general, the Azerbaijani society should know that such attempts will be avoided and prevented by the state. Unfortunately, sometimes the mandatory rules that religious movements pose to their members do not comply with the principles of civil engineering and statehood in Azerbaijan.

No religious belief, or religious worship, or activity should take the form of intervention in the secular norms of the Azerbaijani state. Interference in secular norms perforce creates legal liability , and, of course , appropriate measures are taken to prevent such phenomena, " said Hasanov. - 02B -
