Armenian Leader Says Low Level of Fire Violations at Front
Yerevan / 26.06.18 / Turan: The Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan made a rather unusual statement on June 25, publishing it on his Facebook page.
"We are recording an unprecedentedly low level of violations of the ceasefire regime in recent years," he said, responding to readers' questions about the situation on the front line in Karabakh.
"According to average statistics, since my election, an unprecedentedly low level of ceasefire violations has been observed. Nevertheless, unfortunately, we have losses. At the forefront, there are certain concentrations of Azerbaijani troops. At times, they increase, and at times they decline. There is a certain tension in the direction of Nakhchivan," he said.
When asked about the probability of the resumption of the war, Pashinyan said they should be prepared for that at any time, but now ""there is the usual situation that has been for many years." "In the end, the conflict is not resolved, we are in a semi-military state, which can change at any moment. We must work, and the Defense Ministry should do its work. I do not want to say that there is no cause for concern, but I do not want to say that there is, either," he said.
Note that such statements by the head of state contradict the statements of the Armenian military and politicians about the escalation of tension on the front, the concentration of Azerbaijani troops and numerous provocations on the contact line.
It is difficult to explain such a "peace-loving" statement by Pashinyan, but it clearly aims to alleviate the alarm about the resumption of the war. In addition, this can be a definite signal to Baku. -02D-
