Azerbaijan Confirms Readiness to Exchange Prisoners on Principle of "All for All"
Baku / 08.11.18 / Turan: The State Commission for Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Citizens of Azerbaijan commented on the statement of the Acting Armenian Defense Minister David Tonoyan that Yerevan has not received an official offer from Baku to exchange prisoners on the principle of all for all.
In this regard, the State Commission for Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Citizens of Azerbaijan stated that even in a letter dated April 29, 2016, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) proposed to prepare a draft agreement on the immediate release of all prisoners held by both sides, also about the exchange in a three-day period in the future of all who are captured, as well as the bodies of the dead. For its part, the ICRC said that the proposal had been submitted to the Armenian side, and work was under way to prepare an agreement.
In addition, the State Commission for Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Citizens of Azerbaijan during meetings in 2017 and 2018. with the International Working Group discussed the search for the missing during the Karabakh conflict, the release of all prisoners and hostages, as well as the exchange as soon as possible of all prisoners on the principle of "all for all".
Over the past two years, the co-chairs of the International Working Group (IWG) on the search for the missing, Bernhard Clausen, Svetlana Gannushkina and Paata Zakeriashvili, conveyed these proposals during their visits to Yerevan and occupied Karabakh.
Last time in October of this year, the co-chairs of the IWG who visited Armenia and Karabakh contacted by telephone with the Azerbaijani side, saying that they plan to organize a meeting of representatives of the State Commissions of Azerbaijan and Armenia in Tbilisi at the end of November this year.
The State Commission for Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Citizens of Azerbaijan brought to the attention of the co-chairs of the IWG the readiness of the Azerbaijani side for such a meeting if the main topic of discussion is the release of all prisoners held by both sides on the principle of "all for all" as soon as possible. -06D--
