Border guard killed during exercises in Gazakh
Baku/05.11.21/Turan: Sergeant of the border troops of Azerbaijan Tural Akhmedov died during an exercise in the Gazakh region in the west of the country.
As stated in a joint statement by the press services of the State Border Service (SBS) and the General Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan, the incident occurred on November 4 at about 17:20 during a field exercise on the service territory of the separate Gazakh division of the border troops.
During firing from an AGS-17 automatic easel grenade launcher, Akhmedov was wounded by shrapnel. Despite the adoption of immediate measures to evacuate the soldier, he could not save his life.
In connection with the incident, the State Border Service and the General Prosecutor's Office are conducting joint investigative actions, the press release says.
Recall that at the end of 2018, the protection of the border with Armenia in Gazakh and Aghstafa regions was transferred to the State Border Service of Azerbaijan.
