The Turkish Ambassador about the assistance sent from Azerbaijan to the victims of the earthquake
Baku/14.02.23/Turan: After the earthquake in Turkey, 5624 tents were sent from Azerbaijan to the disaster-stricken provinces of this country by truck and aircraft as humanitarian aid. This was announced at today's press conference by Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan Jahit Bakhchi.
In addition 401 tons of medicines, over 1200 generators, 6240 heaters, 737 tons of food products were delivered to Turkey from Azerbaijan.
At the same time, Bakhchi, addressing those who wished to help the victims of the earthquake, asked not to send clothes anymore.
“A large number of clothes have already been collected and now the process of its distribution has begun. Those who want to help can send tents and generators, which is in great need,” the ambassador said.-06B-

According to the Turkish newspaper Sabah, officials from the Istanbul Prosecutor's Office's Anti-Smuggling Unit have detained an Azerbaijani citizen with a large shipment of gold. The detention took place near the Vadi İstanbul shopping center in the Sarıyer district, where a taxi was stopped. During the search, 70 kg of gold was found. The Azerbaijani citizen in the vehicle claimed ownership of the cargo and also stated that he was a diplomat. The investigation by the prosecutor's office is ongoing, reports Sabah newspaper. The media outlet does not disclose the name of the "diplomat," only his initials – M.G.Ş. The Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs has declined to comment on the situation.
