Azerbaijani who fought as member of illegal group in Syria detained
Baku/20.05.22/Turan: The State Security Service of Azerbaijan informed about detention of Azerbaijani citizen Akif Aydin oglu Osmanov, born in 1977.
According to the State Security Service, earlier this man was detained by Turkish special services and had a passport in the name of a citizen of Uzbekistan Ilorjon Isanov, but was released due to lack of evidence.
However, further investigation revealed that Osmanov was trained in a military camp in the Syrian town of Atma and became a member of the illegal group "Azeri Jamaati". With a fake Uzbek passport Osmanov visited other countries as well.
Note that Akif Osmanov was prosecuted under Articles: 12.1 and 279.1 of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan (establishment of illegal armed groups and supplying them with arms and military equipment).
Osmanov was arrested by court order. -02D-
