Opinions of the deputies on the events in Gence, the departure of foreign companies from Azerbaijan, and the lack of property declarations of officials are the leading topics of today's press.
The newspaper Azerbaijan writes about the latest events in Gence, calling the present provocation unsuccessful. MPs assess the events, during which police officers were killed.
The author considers these events a continuation of the November events in the village of Nardaran. According to MP Aydin Mirzazadeh, what is happening in Gence is a provocation against statehood and stability.
A similar opinion is also supported by MP Musa Guliyev. Deputy Fazil Mustafa believes the country is offered religious radicalism. He called the action in Gence clearly regulated from abroad.
The newspaper Novoye Vremya writes about the withdrawal of foreign companies from the country. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said at the last meeting of the government that corruption is the main reason for the inadequate level of foreign investment in the country's non-oil sector.
Corruption and monopolization is an indicator of distrust of foreign investors towards the Azerbaijani economy.
The website Strateq.az discusses the topic of corruption with MP Ali Masimli. According to the deputy, officials do not want to fill out income declarations, being afraid of transparency.
A special presidential decree on income declarations was signed on August 9, 2005, but the matter did not go further than the paper.
