A glance at the multicultural situation in the country against the backdrop of events in Gence, the detention of a disabled person accused of Nardaran events in prison, and the possible disappearance of local fruits are the leading topics of today's press.

Khalg Gazeti writes about the policy of multiculturalism - a guarantor of stability within the country. The head of the Interethnic Relations Department of the Presidential Staff, Etibar Najafov, assesses the situation with multiculturalism and religion in the country against the backdrop of the events in Gence.

He believes that extremist forces artificially use the religious factor. The state cares for believers, for example, the restoration of the Imamzade complex in Gence, the Shah Abbas mosque, and the Khazret Zeyneb mosque.

Currently, six mosques and one complex operate in Gence. They are financed by the Cultural Values Promotion Fund of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations. According to Najafov, the problem is that the small religious groups do not accept the current state of affairs and at various times try to destabilize the situation with the further goal of changing the system in the country.

Najafov reminded about unauthorized street marches of radicals in Gence in 2011-2012 and about the Shiite Ashura in 2015. The Gence events are supported from the outside, he stressed.

The website Azadliq.info writes about a disabled resident of Nardaran Abulfaz Bunyatov, who was sentenced on the Nardaran events and sent to the Gobustan prison. He is paralyzed and cannot do without external help. The author of the article considers this a murder and calls for the manifestation of humanity.

The newspaper Yeni Musavat writes that recently the import of fruit from abroad has grown. They are more resistant to disease and produce high yields, but the taste is completely different.

By the way, the production of local fruits and their exports are also growing rapidly. The head of the Association of Vegetable and Fruit Producers and Exporters of Azerbaijan Bashir Guliyev does not agree with the opinion that the imported varieties are bad. As an example, he cites the so-called Baku sort of tomatoes. These Durento brand tomatoes were imported from Holland back in 1972. And then they successfully took root and became a "local brand". Fruits and vegetables become delicious due to the land and climate, which is exactly what Azerbaijan has, Bashir Guliyev believes.
