Prosecutor demanded for Fikret Faramazoglu 8 years in prison
Baku / 02.06.17 / Turan: Today at the Baku Serious Crimes Court at the trial in the case of the editor-in-chief of the website Jam.az Fikret Faramazoglu (Ibishbeyli) a state prosecutor made a speech. The prosecutor proposed to find him guilty of extortion by threats, and to sentence him to 8 years in prison. The next meeting is scheduled for June 9.Faramazoglu was arrested on June 30, 2016 by officers of the Office for Combating Organized Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. According to the police, he was detained red-handed after receiving a bribe of 3000 manats. The journalist rejected accusations and said that he was being persecuted for publishing about illegal dens. Local human rights defenders recognized him as a political prisoner. -16D06--
