Tofig Yagublu tells about torture
Baku /23.10.19 / Turan: Members of the National Preventive Group (NPG) for the Prevention of Torture at the Ombudsman"s Office visited the Center for Administratively Arrested in the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The NPG members held confidential meetings with some of them, including Tofig Yagublu, a member of the National Council of Democratic Forces, and documented his complaints about the conditions of detention and meetings with relatives.
In turn, the daughter of Yagublu Nigar said that today she was given a minute meeting with her father. "Father sent greetings to all friends and thanked them for their support. He maintains good spirits by saying that "the struggle continues."
According to her, the meeting was through a glass partition. "There were signs of torture bruising, swelling on his face. He said that his ribs hurt badly and could not raise his hand," said Nigar.
My father said that he had his hands tied with plaits, and then they kicked and kicked him for an hour, demanding to report to the camera that he had made a mistake and stopped the fight. After the refusal, he was beaten even more.
However, Nigar was not given a meeting with her husband Seymour Hazy, who is being held in the same detention center.
Tofig Yagublu was detained on October 19 at an opposition rally and sentenced to 30 days of arrest on the same day. S. Hazy was arrested on October 17 for 15 days. -06D-
