"The Proposal" by Chekhov on the Baku stage
Baku/02.02.18/Turan: The Baku State Theater YUĞ is preparing a production of a one-action comedy "Proposal", based on the work of the Russian classicist A.P.Chekhov.
The premiere is scheduled for March, the theater company reports.
The director of the vaudeville Gunay Sattar, the artist director Umay Hasanova, the musical arrangement Amid Gasimov, the assistant director Sabir Mammadov.
"Proposal", a comedy play by Anton Pavlovich Chekhov, was written in 1888. It was first staged on April 12, 1889 by the capital's artistic circle in St. Petersburg. The classic himself called her a joke in one act.
The essence of the narrative is as follows: the landlord comes to visit the neighbor-landowner to ask for the hands of his daughter. But it turns out that the most important thing between them were property disputes. Begin to find out whose land and who has the better dog.
The meaning of the play is that years pass, and priorities do not change. First money, and then love. And even if everything starts with love, then in the end everything will come to money. -0-

In a world increasingly marred by the effects of climate change, art has emerged as an unexpected, yet powerful, platform for raising awareness and sparking conversations on environmental responsibility. One such endeavor is the exhibition "A Different Kind of Climate," currently on display at Kapellhaus with support from the Goethe-Institut. The timing of this exhibition is no coincidence, aligning with the upcoming COP29, the UN Climate Change Conference to be held in Baku from November 11 to 22. The exhibition seeks to engage audiences on pressing ecological issues, blending local and international perspectives.
