Baku Hosts Caspian Technical Conference
The official opening of the second Caspian Technical Conference and Exhibition Society of Petroleum Engineers SPE was held on November 4 at the Fairmont Hotel in Baku.
The three-day event brings together more than 500 professionals in the oil and gas industry, including representatives of international and national oil companies, government agencies, service companies, research institutions and other organizations.
At the opening ceremony Academician Khoshbakht Yusifzadeh, First Vice President of SOCAR stressed the importance of nanotechnologies that will play a special role in the development and the development of oil and gas fields and the industry as a whole in the coming years.
Martin Smith, Vice President of BP on development of fields, in his welcoming speech noted the difficulties faced by the oil and gas industry not only in the Caspian region and in the world, due to the ongoing decline in oil prices. However, overall he was optimistic in his forecasts of the current difficulties that can be overcome thanks to new technologies and human resources.
On the eve of the opening ceremony, SPE conducted a series of training sessions, which reflected the intention of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) to convey unparalleled technical information to the visitors.
Over the next three days, participants will hear performances by renowned speakers and will witness a rich technical program, as well as be able to establish business contacts with colleagues. The event is held in partnership with SOCAR and is also hosted by BP, with the support of the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan Republic.
