Ilham Aliyev Comes to Zagatala
President Ilham Aliyev visited the Zagatala region, where he took part in the opening of the kindergarten Rose built by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, with a hundred places and the area of 1,280 sq.m. The President also took part in the ceremony of commissioning of the road Zagatala-Nanachy-Ashagi Chardakhly.
Repair of the road began in 2013 on the funds from the reserve fund of the President. The length of the road is 28 km, of which 24.5 km is already suitable for use. The width of the asphalt concrete pavement is up to 6.5 m with a total road width of 10 m.
TheZagatala district with an area of 1,348 square kilometers has a population of over 100 thousand people. It is in the north-west of Azerbaijan 360 km from Baku and is included in the Sheki-Zagatala economic region. In Zagatala there are nut processing, canning, butter and cheese producing, silk-growing, essential oil, asphalt and brick factories, furniture and tea factories and the international airport. The area is one of the centers of tourism in Azerbaijan.
In the regional center the President participated in the opening of the Center named after Heydar Aliyev, whose construction was begun in 2013. The building occupies 2765 square meters. m. There is an exhibition hall, which tells about the life of the former head of Azerbaijan, a conference hall with 350 seats, a variety of creative studios, electronic library and others.
On the same day there was also the opening of a new building of Zagatala branch of the Pedagogical Institute, the old building have been affected by the earthquake in 2012. The new building covers an area of 6,700 sq.m and it is equipped with modern equipment and teaching materials. -0--

Tea imports to Azerbaijan have increased. According to the State Customs Committee, from January to November 2024, tea imports grew by 3.3% year-on-year to 12,893 tons in volume and by 4.5% in value, amounting to $67.715 million.
