Baku responded to the threat of Sargsyan
Armenian President stated about the threat of a large-scale war in Karabakh, speaking on Monday before the ambassadors of OSCE countries. "A further escalation of military action could lead to unpredictable and irreversible consequences, up to full-scale war. This will affect not only the South Caucasus, but also the issues of security and stability in the European region," he said. Sargsyan accused Azerbaijan of military operations in Karabakh on the "pre-developed scenario", and said the negative role played by Turkey, which "provoke war" and openly supports the policy of Baku. He further said that the need to increase the possibilities for monitoring the situation with the OSCE and Yerevan is ready for "reasonable compromise" to resolve the situation.
In conclusion, Sargsyan said: "If, indeed, the fighting continue and develop into large-scale action, Armenia will recognize the independence of Nagorno-Karabakh Republic." In response to these threats, the official representative of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Hikmet Hajiyev said that despite the unilateral ceasefire by Azerbaijan on April 3 Armenia continued shelling of populated areas and positions of the Azerbaijani side.
"Azerbaijan is ready for a ceasefire, but the Armenian forces in accordance with the well-known UN resolutions should be withdrawn from the occupied territories. The territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan must be ensured within the framework of the internationally recognized borders," said Hajiyev. -02D-
