Establishment of the concept "Azerbaijan 2020: A Look into the Future"
On Saturday the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree to approve the Concept "Azerbaijan 2020: a look into the future."
The concept, which covers the period up to 2020, provides for increasing competitiveness, improving transport infrastructure, logistics, transit, balanced development of the regions, the transition to the information society, human capital development, effective social protection, institutional reforms, development of cultural heritage and the environment.
The Decree provides the creation of the National Group for the Development Concept of the "Azerbaijan 2020: A look into the future." Ministries and agencies have been entrusted to prepare during two months their own programs and development concepts.
Preparation of the concept was launched in November 2011, after the relevant order of the President.
Some forecasts of social figures show that the concept will change very little in the lives of the citizens of the country. For example, the strategy envisages that GDP in 2020 will grow by two times and will reach 13,000 manat per capita; this is by 3,000 AZN smaller than global standard. The average pension by this time will grow only up to 270 manat, while the average wage will increase to 684 manat. Even at 5% annual inflation allowances to pensions and salaries will be seriously devalued.
On the eve of signing the decree of the head of socio-political department of the Presidential Administration, Ali Hasanov, said that the Azerbaijani people, under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev will continue to move to new victories, as the head of the state justified the confidence, expectations, and dreams of citizens of the country.—0-
