Heads of the Iranian and Azerbaijani border guards meet in Bilasuvar
Baku / 09.01.19 / Turan: Today, the head of the State Border Service of Azerbaijan, Elchin Guliyev, met with the commander of the Border Troops of Iran, Gasim Rzai. Negotiations were held in Iranian Bilasuvar.
The press service of the Border Service of Azerbaijan reports that during the meeting, the sides discussed issues of border security, countering cross-border crime, smuggling, international terrorism, illegal migration, etc.
The issues of improving the border infrastructure and speeding up border control procedures in the framework of international transport projects were also discussed.
In this regard, the importance of the transfer of the state border checkpoints "Astara" and "Bilasuvar" to the 24-hour mode was emphasized.
The importance of taking measures to build a new automobile bridge and a pedestrian crossing over the Astara River was also noted.
In turn, the Iranian agency Mehr reported that on January 9, an agreement was signed in Astara, Iran, between the commanders of the border units of Astara (Iran) and Lankaran (Azerbaijan).
The topic of the agreement is "Deepening the bottom of the border river Astara over a length of 5 km.," was reported.
A delegation led by Rzai visited Baku on 11 December, during the visit a number of agreements were reached on the border regime. -05D-
