Punishment for environmental violations tightened in Azerbaijan
Baku / 05.10.18 / Turan: On Friday, at a meeting of the Milli Majlis, deputies adopted amendments to the Criminal Code, providing for tougher penalties for violating the rules for the protection and use of mineral resources.
The head of the legal policy committee, Ali Huseynli, said that fines for violating the rules for the protection and use of mineral resources in the design, construction, commissioning and operation of mining enterprises, as well as the unauthorized development of mineral deposits, are increasing.
Thus, the fine has been increased from 3-6 thousand manat to 6-10 thousand manat, or the punishment may be in the form of imprisonment up to one year. If the violations had serious consequences - the death of a person, then the deprivation of liberty can be up to 5 years. -02D-
