Ruling Party Announced Approval of List of Candidates for Parliamentary Elections
Baku / 27.12.19 / Turan: On the evening of December 27, the ruling New Azerbaijan Party announced the approval of the list of its candidates in the February 9, 2020 parliamentary elections.
Information about this appeared on the party’s website at 17:41.
The list itself has not yet been made public. According to unofficial data, the approval of the list took place during a heated debate that lasted several hours at a meeting of the party’s Board.
Commenting on the discussions, the party’s Deputy Executive Secretary Siyavush Novruzov told reporters that candidates were nominated in 123 constituencies. There will be no candidates from three districts of Nakhchivan and Khankendi (Nagorno-Karabakh).
According to him, the parliamentary faction of the ruling party will be substantially updated, and the list approved today includes more women and youth.
He also noted that if a member of the New Azerbaijan Party nominates himself, he will go against the will of his party. -02D-
