Session of State Commission for Prisoners of War and Hostages
Baku / 01.11.18 / Turan: As of today, 871 Azerbaijani citizens are in captivity and hostages. This was stated by the head of the State Security Service (SSS) and the chairman of the State Commission for Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Citizens Madat Guliyev at a meeting of the commission on November 1.
According to him, Azerbaijan continues the necessary measures to free these people and the issue of their release is in the center of the constant attention of the country's leadership.
Guliyev said the State Commission on Prisoners and Hostages put forward a proposal to release the persons registered by the International Committee of the Red Cross who are in captivity and hostages, and about the early transfer of prisoners and hostages to the parties. However, Armenia did not express its attitude to this proposal.
It should be noted that the Armenian side denies the presence of prisoners and hostages on its territory, claiming that all these people were killed during the war. -02D-
