Upcoming pardon can touch political prisoners, Chingiz Ganizadeh
A member of the monitoring group of human rights organizations, MP Chingiz Ganizadeh told Turan that on the eve of May 28 there will be held pardon.
According to him, on this issue two meetings have been held at the Clemency Commission and it is planned to hold another meeting.
"I believe that in the near future the President can sign a decree to pardon as many appeals have been received. I think that showing humanism, he will sign another decree of pardon before May 28," said Ganizadeh.
According to him, the Clemency Commission examined hundreds of complaints from prisoners, their families and human rights organizations.
"We hope that the appeals of human rights defenders, as before, will be taken into account,” said Ganizadeh.
The MP said that according to the list presented by Leyla Yunus and others, there are 140 political prisoners. “It became clear in the course of our investigation that most of the people included in this list had nothing to do with politics. They are radical religious men, terrorists, people who worked for the secret services of Armenia and other countries.
Therefore, the monitoring group of human rights organizations appealed to the President to pardon more than 20 people arrested in the socio-political processes," said Ganizadeh.
On the question whether the pardon will touch the convicted activists of NIDA, other political activists and journalists, Ganizadeh hoped that the pardon will also affect them.
With regard to the ex-minister Ali Insanov, many human rights activists asked the President for a pardon for him. "I think this is a disputable issue, because there is a decision of the European Court against Ali Insanov and the case was re-examined.
I think that this case is under special control of the President and the President himself will decide to pardon the ex-minister or not," said Ganizadeh . -03B04-
