Academy of Sciences: Tree felling in the Botanical Garden has scientific value
The Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan gave an explanation about the mass felling of trees in the Botanical Gardens. A press release of the Academy of Sciences says that "reconstruction and improvement work that have scientific value are going on in the Botanical Garden."
So, from the site for seedlings covering 0.5 hectares were replanted various kinds of young trees to another location. This plot is located at Badamdar Highway 40. "New trees are planted here, which play an important role in nurturing the natural gene pool."
Deputy Director for Science Garden PhD in biology Vahid Farzaliyev said that the enrichment of the natural gene pool is suitable area "planted with rare trees." Presently works are going on for the transference and landing, to make effective use of the site. Among the planted trees predominate plants and their roots "do not go in depth, in particular are different kinds of flowers."
"It is planned to create in the future additional opportunities for development activities to NASA, as well as for the development of science in Azerbaijan as a whole."
