Blogger Mehman Huseynov is sent to the "zone"
Baku/19.04.17/Turan: Attorney Elchin Sadigov today visited the blogger Mehman Huseynov in Shuvalan detention center. The conditions where Mehman is kept have worsened, the lawyer said in a conversation with Turan, but the health of the blogger is normal. Huseynov was transferred to a cell where the prisoners sent to the jail were kept. "The cell is very crowded, instead of 10 people, there are 15 prisoners," said the lawyer. On March 3, Huseynov was sentenced to 2 years in prison on charges of libel against Musa Musayev, the chief of the Nasimi district police in Baku. On April 12, the appellate court upheld the verdict. Many international organizations condemned Huseynov's sentence, treating him as a punishment for criticizing the authorities, and in particular, for the negative reporting about the appointment of Mehriban Aliyeva as the country's vice-president.-05B06-
