Consideration of Elchin Sadigov's appeal postponed again
Baku/16.09.22/Turan: The consideration of the appeal against the arrest of lawyer Elchin Sadigov, scheduled for today, was again postponed. The reason for the postponement is the non-submission of materials from the Prosecutor General's Office to the court, lawyer Bahtiyar Hajiyev told Turan. The judge adjourned the hearing to 2 p.m. Saturday.
According to the lawyer, Sadigov appeared in court and defended himself, rejecting the accusations brought against him. He said that in protest against the unjustified criminal prosecution, he was on a hunger strike.
Sadigov was given the opportunity to communicate confidentially in the courthouse with all of his 7 lawyers.
It should be noted that the complaint against Sadigov's arrest should have been considered on September 15. However, on Thursday he was taken away for interrogation to the Prosecutor General's Office and the hearings were postponed until today.
*Journalist Avaz Zeynalli and lawyer Elchin Sadigov were arrested on September 11 on charges of accepting a large-scale bribe and aiding, respectively.
They denied the allegations and linked the accusations to their professional activities. -06B-
