Does the EU support pro-government NGOs?
Baku/10.05.18/Turan: The Steering Committee of the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum appealed to the head of the EU office in Azerbaijan KestostisJankauskas. The appeal expresses concern that the EU's financial support to Azerbaijan, in particular, the projects implemented by NGOs, is not transparent. The full text of the appeal is posted on the website of this structure. The appeal refers to the project "Inclusive Education" announced in May 2017, as well as a project to improve the education system in December 2016.
The authors of the appeal believe that both projects were implemented non-transparently, in case of non-compliance with EU norms. Despite the fact that the funds for both projects have been allocated, nevertheless, it has not been announced which organizations became the recipients of these funds. There are doubts that both projects have been transferred to a pro-government NGO.The Steering Committee of the Civil Society Foundation of the Eastern Partnership believes that the public should be informed about both projects. -0--
