Is the landslide caused by underground rivers? (VIDEO)
Baku / 25.01.18 / Turan: The people evacuated from the landslide zone on the Bayil slope will be provided with funds for temporary rental of housing, the reporters were told by the head of the Executive Power of the Sabail district, Eldar Azizov. With the participation of specialists, work is now under way to identify the reasons for the activation of the landslide and the question of the possibility of further residence of people here is being decided, he said.
Azizov visited schools number 163, where he met with the evacuated population; 63 people are accommodated here. According to Azizov, the specialists found that there are two "underground rivers". The landslide could be promoted by raising the water level in these rivers and increasing the amount of precipitation. If experts come to the conclusion that the landslide threat will grow, citizens will be paid a one-time compensation for resettlement from this territory, Azizov said. However, many residents are unhappy with the fact that they are placed in schools. A resident Mahur Ahmedova said she cannot live with a small child at school and therefore sent her granddaughter to relatives.
Many residents insist that they be moved to other places. -06D-
