Growth in the non-oil sector, lease agreements and their transparency, and the likelihood of another price increase in the country's market are the leading topics of today's media.
The newspaper Azerbaijan writes that growth in the non-oil sector was 15.5%. According to the State Statistics Committee for January-April of this year, the country produced GDP in the amount of 23 billion 813.4 million manat, which is 2.1% more than the same period last year.
For 4 months, the country produced industrial products for 15.5 billion manat, which is 2.2% more than in the same period for 2018.
From the beginning of the year 3 billion 916 million manat was directed to the main capital.
As of April 1, the number of employees in the country's economy was 1 million 580.8 thousand people.
The Azpolitikinfo website writes about leases and their transparency, noting that the Ministry of Taxes created an analytical group to track the dynamics of the share of the "shadow economy". One of the manifestations of this phenomenon is the rental of premises for trade objects and catering, the author believes. That is, leases are drawn up, they do not reflect the actual amount of the lease. In reality, the amount is higher than indicated in the contract, since the tax rate for rent is 14%, and this is a rather high rate for the real business atmosphere of the country. Hence the fact that 10 million manat does not fall into the state budget.
The website Modern.az writes that fruit prices will rise due to bad weather in April-May this year. Unstable weather in the second half of April and even snow in the foothill areas, as well as hail in Khachmaz, caused serious damage to fruit trees.
Hail is expected on May 20 in some areas. Only the fact that hail is of local character and does not take place throughout the country is positive to an extent.
