Mother of the arrested human rights activist speaks about his serious illness
The family members of human rights defender Thale Hasmamedova visited him in the medical facility of the Penitentiary Service, said Gulbuta Hasmamedova, mother of the convicted. According to her, Thale’s health is serious, and he suffers from severe nerve pain. He could not even talk, and took painkillers.
Moreover, Thale is suffering from thyroid disease, and blood poisoning is possible. He is in need of surgery, but it is risky in prison hospital, says his mother. In mid-February, the provocation was made against Hasmamedov in jail. One of the prisoners provoked a fight and inflicted injuries. Then he was placed to the punishment cell for a week, to hide the traces of beatings.
Earlier Hasmamedov was placed to a punishment cell in jail N17. He was beaten there every day, and then was told that they "made a mistake". Mother asks the country's leadership to prevent the murder of her son. She also expressed gratitude to the International Committee of the Red Cross and other international organizations and media agencies who have shown interest in the fate of her son.
Hasmamedov is known for exposing corruption and wrongdoing by the executive powers of Goychay-Ujar region. He was several times threatened, and to stop publication. In 2015, he was charged with disorderly conduct and sentenced to three years. -06D-
