Musavat activist arrested for 30 days
Baku / 07.29.19 / Turan: Youth activist Elman Guliyev, arrested in a rally in defense of the rights of a Musavat party member Azad Hasanov, was administratively detained for 30 days.
The court found the head of the Musavat youth committee, Hasanov, guilty under the Article 535.1 (not subordinating to the lawful demands of a police officer) of the Code of Administrative Offenses.
Guliyev"s rights to the defense were violated, said a lawyer Osman Kazimov.
Guliyev was taken to court at the end of the working day. Along the way, he called and asked Kazimov to defend his rights. However, the lawyer, due to limited time, was unable to sign a rights protection agreement. In such a case, the court should have postponed the hearing to the next day.
But the court did not give Guliyev the opportunity to be a lawyer of choice.
According to the lawyer, at the trial Guliyev demanded to see the video of the action, as this would confirm that he did not violate the law.
However, the court did not satisfy the petition and sentenced the activist to 30 knocks of arrest.
The other seven people brought from the action to the 21st department of the Nasimi district police department were released.
The rally was held in Central Park in protest against the unreasonable prosecution of Musavat activist Azad Hasanov and the delay in the trial of him.
However, the police dispersed the protesters. -21c-

In 2017, the Sumgayit City Court ruled to evict the Aliyev family—refugees from Gubadli (Akper, Sarvinaz, Ramil, and two other family members)—from an illegally occupied apartment in the 12th microdistrict, Building 7A, Apartment 35. The court ordered the property be returned to its rightful owner, Samaya Aliyeva. However, the Ministry of Justice intervened, citing a presidential decree from July 1, 2004, which approved a state program for improving the living and working conditions of refugees. Under this directive, refugees without alternative housing cannot be evicted until they are provided with a replacement residence by the Executive Authority.
