Ongoing Psychological Help to Relatives of Oilmen Missing from Guneshli

Ongoing is psychological support to rescuers, as well as relatives and friends of the oilmen missing from the Guneshli field platform since December last year.

As the head of the Ministry of Health Mental Health Center, Professor Fuad Ismayilov told Turan, immediately after the tragic incident a team of six people was created, including psychologists and doctors of the Center. They were in the SOCAR office and provided psychological aid for the first five days after the tragedy. There they were approached by 22 people - family members and friends of the missing oil workers. All the uncertainty experienced by these people after the disappearance of their relatives was a cause of stress. Aid was provided for the first five days by the known "seven-step crisis intervention." Then, at the proposal of the SOCAR the group continued to assist in the office of the Mental Health Center. Aid was provided to six others there. In addition to psychological care a therapist appointed treatment to several people. The team still continues to provide psychological support.

Ismayilov said that among the 28 people assisted, there were no children or adolescents.

On December 4, 2015 as a result of the accident on the gas pipeline on Platform No 10 on the field Guneshli, a fire was caused by the hurricane. Thirty-three oilmen from the platform were rescued, 11 died, and 19 are considered to be missing. -06d--
