On the orders of the Minister of the Interior, the police chief of Ganja, General Rasim Musayev, was fired.
According to Deputy Interior Minister, Ehsan Zahidov, the dismissal was based on a report from Musayev to release him from his post. Currently Musayev has been transferred to the personnel department of the Ministry of Interior. The duties of the head of Ganja police is being performed by one of his deputies.
Rasim Musayev had headed the police in the second largest city in the country since 2007.
Before that, he was chief of police in the Binagadi district of Baku and head of security at the Office of Internal Affairs.
The dismissal can be considered unexpected because there were no serious failures in the fight against crime in Ganja. However, as reported by local sources, after the arrival of the new head of Ganja executive power, Elmar Valiyev, dissatisfaction in the city increased regarding the deprivation of the property of citizens and the illegal demolition of commercial buildings.
In addition, in recent years in Ganja, the role and influence of religious groups, including the Salafis - Wahhabis has increased. -16B-
