Press Review for 1/23/13

 

Official newspapers continue to vilify the playwright Rustam Ibragimbekov, human rights activist Leila Yunus, and the political scientist Eldar Namazov. This has become a ritual is the official press.

 At the same time, newspapers began publishing positive material about the journalist Eynullah Fatullayev and the actor Rasim Balayev, even though recently they criticized them.

 

Azadlig

The newspaper published material on the fight between police chief and head of Ganja City Executive Power., which caused the police chief sudden dismissal.  The fight’s cause was of the chief executive’s tyranny against citizens.

The dismissal of Ganja Chief of Police and the protest in the Bina shopping center are the main stories. The newspaper wrote details on the conflict between Ganja police chief and Ganja’s head of executive power.

It was also reported, the day before, several dealers were arrested in Bina. They were publicly handcuffed and taken away by people in civilian clothes.

 

Yeni Musavat said Ganja Police Chief hit Ganja’s Chief Executive with his head and broke his nose.

The newspaper claims the protest was organized the capital’s cabbies.
