The court sentenced Ali Kerimli's bodyguard to a suspended sentence
Baku/17.06.21/Turan: The trial of Ruslan Amirov, the bodyguard of the chairman of the Party of People's Front of Azerbaijan (PPFA) Ali Kerimli, has ended on June 17 in the Sabail District Court of Baku chaired by Azer Tagiyev.
Amirov was detained in October last year due to the Karabakh action on July 14-15, 2021. Note that his case was severed from other charges.
Amirov was charged under Articles 186.2.1 (intentional destruction or large-scale damage to property), 186.2.2 (the same actions that led to serious consequences), 233 ( organization of public order violations), 315 (resistance or use of violence against a public authority), 127.2 (intentional infliction of less serious harm to health) of the Criminal Code of the Republic.
Note that earlier Amirov told Turan that he participated in a peaceful rally but had not commited illegal actions. "The criminal case against me is political. I did not commit illegal actions; however, I took part in the action to support the Azerbaijani Army, " he said.
This notwithstanding, the prosecutor today asked to sentence him to 4, 5 years of probation. The court convicted the activist to suspended imprisonment for 4 years with a three-year probation period.
The defense is going to appeal the verdict.
*On July 14, 2020, thousands of people began a spontaneous demonstration in Baku demanding to start a war for liberation of Karabakh. The march lasted all night and ended only in the early morning of July 15. Some of the demonstrators entered the parliament building and caused minor damage to property.
According to these events, 12 people, including 4 activists of the PPFA, have already received suspended sentences. Another 24 defendants are awaiting sentence.- 016D06-

As part of the struggle against illegal migration in Baku city, operative actions were carried out at different addresses. The Interior Ministry reports that employees of the Department for Combating Illegal Migration identified and detained 34 foreigners without documents giving the right to reside and stay on the territory of Azerbaijan.

During the operation of the Main Drug Control Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 5 members of an organized group engaged in drug trafficking were detained. All of them have previous convictions: Bahlul Ismayilov, Royal Aliyev, Khayal Aliyev, Samir Aghayev, and Ali Mammadli.
