The mother of a youth activist declared pressure on her son in the jail

Baku/28.01.19/Turan: Shura Amiraslanova, mother of youth activist Giyas Ibrahimov, announced pressure on her son in jail N 2.

"He is subjected to strong pressure on him," she told Turan.

According to her, this took place during the hunger strike of Giyas, who expressed solidarity with another convict - blogger Mehman Huseynov.

"It was earlier, but yesterday I witnessed it again. Giyas sent me a letter, but it was taken from me.

He has a right to write letters," said the mother.

In addition, after the hunger strike, her son was deprived of the right to phone calls and he was constantly monitored.

The mother will contact the ICRC and other international organizations to visit her son.

In the letter taken from her, Ibrahimov positively assessed the reconciliation of the blogger Mehman Huseynov with the employee of the jail.

* Giyas Ibrahimov was arrested on May 10, 2017 after writing together with Bayram Mammadov political slogans on the monument to Heydar Aliyev. However, they were accused of illegal drug trafficking and sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Later he was sentenced to three more months in jail for "insulting the judges" of the Baku Court of Appeal.

Amnesty International recognized both activists as "prisoners of conscience." -06D--
