Tougher penalties for abuse of the status of the journalist
The proposed amendments to the legislation provide for tougher penalties for abuse of the journalistic profession. The bill was discussed on Tuesday at a meeting of the parliamentary committee on legal policy and state building issues. Under the proposed changes to the Code of Administrative Offences, for abuse of the status of the journalist individuals will be fined 200-300 manats, officials - 500-700 manat, legal entities – 2,000 or 3,000d manats.
Under current legislation the size of a fine for an individual is 15-25 manats, official - 35-50 manats. The bill was recommended for consideration at the plenary session of Milli Majlis. -05D04
