Court of Appeal Dismissed Younis Safarov�s Appeal
Baku / 04.10.18 / Turan: Today, the Baku Court of Appeal considered the complaint of Younis Safarov, accused of attempting to kill the former head of Ganja, Elmar Veliyev.
Younis Safarov complained of torture and deprivation of his advocacy in the person of lawyer Elchin Sadigov.
However, the appeals instance rejected the complaint, upholding the decision of the Sabail District Court. Turan was told by a source in the Baku Court of Appeal.
At the same time, Safarov himself was not brought to court.
On the eve, Safarov's mother, Leila Ismayilova, made a statement that under torture her son was forced to incriminate his own lawyer.
Earlier, the Prosecutor General"s Office removed lawyer Sadigov from defense and lodged a complaint against him with the Bar Association.
* On July 3, a citizen of the Russian Federation, a native of Ganja, Younis Safarov, wounded the head of the city Elmar Veliyev and his guard with a pistol. A week later, a group of 150-200 people organized a protest action in front of the city administration. Two high-ranking police officers were killed during the clashes.
On September 28, Prosecutor General Zakir Garalov announced that 77 people had been brought to criminal responsibility for these events, and 11 others were wanted. -06D--

Last night, three earthquakes occurred along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border with magnitudes of 4.8, 3.0, and 3.8, according to the Republican Center for Seismological Service of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan.
