Baku/18.03.22/Turan: On March 19, railway communication between the capital Baku and the city of Ganja in the west of the country, interrupted two years ago due to the pandemic, has been resumed in Azerbaijan.

Trains will depart daily from Baku at 08:00 and arrive in Ganja at 11:40;  on the same day, departure from Ganja will be at 18:00 and arrival in Baku at 21:35, the message of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC (AR). Thus, the duration of the train movement at a distance of 364 km. will be 3 hours 40 minutes, and back to Baku - 3 hours 35 minutes.

Ticket sales open on March 18. When buying a ticket, passengers over 18 years of age must have a certificate of vaccination against coronavirus, or a certificate of contraindications, or a certificate of immunity due to a disease. Passengers must wear medical masks on the train.

Flights on this route will be operated by comfortable double-decker trains manufactured by the Swiss company Stadler Rail Group.

There are 367 passenger seats on the train, including 9 first class seats, 62 business class seats and 296 standard seats.

The fare is set at 20 manats ($12) for standard seats and 33 manats ($19) for business class seats. Thus, the cost of a "standard-class" fare has risen in price by 2 times. 

“The tariffs for the Baku-Ganja high-speed train have been changed in accordance with the recommendations of international consulting companies to ensure the financial stability of Azerbaijan Railways. Despite the increase in tariffs, revenues will cover only part of the costs,” the press release says.—06B-
