Ministry of Digital Development and Information on reasons for blocking RIA-Novosti website /UPDATED/

Baku/04.06.22/Turan: The Ministry of Digital Development and Information issued a statement on June 4 naming the publication of defamatory materials against Azerbaijan as the reason for blocking the website of RIA-Novosti agency.

"RIA Novosti" violated the requirements of the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On Information, Informatization and Information Protection" by distributing defamatory and separatist information on the information Internet resource aimed against the territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan," the Ministry said in a statement.  -0-

Access to RIA Novosti website blocked in Azerbaijan

Baku/03.06.22 / Turan: Since the evening of June 3, access to the website of the RIA-Novosti agency has been blocked in Azerbaijan.

There have been no official clarifications regarding the restriction of access to the website of this state media outlet of the Russian Federation.

At the same time, access to the website of the Sputnik-Azerbaijan agency, which is actually a branch of RIA Novosti, remains open.

On June 3, the state agency of Russia, RIA Novosti, published an interview with one of the leaders of the Karabakh separatists, Artak Beglaryan. The content of this material is a defiant violation of the sovereignty of Azerbaijan and contradicts the tripartite statements of the leaders of Azerbaijan, Russia and Armenia adopted after the end of the Second Karabakh War in November 2020.-0-
