Adopted an action plan for the protection of intellectual property
The Action Plan on cooperation between Azerbaijan and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), 2014-2017 has been approved, according to the State Committee on Standardization, Metrology and Patents of Azerbaijan.
The document was signed during the participation of the Azerbaijani delegation headed by Chairman of the State Committee on Standardization, Metrology and Patents Ramiz Hasanov at the 54th meeting of the Assembly of States members of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), which was held on 22-30 September at the headquarters of WIPO in Geneva.
The State Committee says nothing about the essence of the action plan, but the work of WIPO provides a fast, efficient and cost-effective means for the protection of inventions, trademarks and designs in many countries. In particular, in the field of the international patent system, the international trademark system, the international system designs, appellations of origin, protection of State emblems, as well as the settlement of disputes in the field of intellectual property services for patent offices, secure exchange of documents within the DAS and CASE.
Failure to comply with the intellectual property rights in Azerbaijan and actually is one of the obstacles to Azerbaijan's accession to the World Trade Organization, experts say.
WIPO is the global forum dealing with services and policy issues, cooperation and information in the field of intellectual property, and is a self-funding agency of the United Nations. -0--
