Decree on Two-month-old Privatization Reconsidered
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on July 19 made adjustments to the May 19 document providing for restrictions on the decision-making on the part of the State Committee for Property Affairs (SCPA) on state property privatization.
According to the new decision, SCPA will decide on the privatization of enterprises that were open to privatization by decisions of the President of Azerbaijan before the entry into force of the decree dated 19 May 2016, and subject to privatization of enterprises, facilities and land on the SCPA decisions. All of the remaining state-owned enterprises will be exhibited for privatization by the President.
The government will prepare a new draft law "On privatization of state property," according to the law "On appraisal activity". In the previous decree it was noted that the assessment of state property shall be carried out in line with the market value. The term of preparation of the bill expires today, July 20. -08D-
