Demand for Food Products in Azerbaijan to Increase by 70% by 2050
The number of kilocalories consumed per capita will increase from 2,800 to 3,050 by the year 2050. This means that the demand for food products in Azerbaijan by that time will grow by 70%. This was said by the Executive Director of the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communications (CAERC) Vusal Gasimli.
The American Chamber of Commerce in Azerbaijan (AmCham) in collaboration with CAERC and the Service of the Aide to the President of Azerbaijan on Economic Reforms organized a conference "Strategic perspective on agriculture: competitiveness, food safety and social aspects" in Baku. The conference discussed the main directions of the strategic road map for the main sectors of the economy and the national economy, in particular agriculture.
The section chief of the Service of the Azerbaijan Presidential Aide on Economic Reforms Elkhan Mikayilov noted that by 2050 the population of Azerbaijan will grow to 12.1 million, thus the need for the country's food supply will increase.
The main aspects of the view of agriculture in the light of the strategic roadmap of the economy are competitiveness, food security, and social aspects (employment, regional development, etc.). ----08D
