Fire on Bulla-Deniz Continues
A fire at the offshore gas condensate field, Bulla-Deniz, in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea which broke out on the night of Aug. 18, is still burning SOCAR told Turan this morning.,
Steps are being taken to resist and extinguish the fire. This work involves special services and specialists from SOCAR and BP.
The head of SOCAR, Rovnag Abdullayev, held a meeting on steps being taken to extinguish the fire.
The fire started in exploration well number 29 during drilling at a depth of about 6 km.
"There has been open gushing gas, which caught fire," the website of SOCAR says.
All workers on the platform were evacuated. Bulla-Deniz is in open sea, 80 km south of Baku. -03D-
